The Holidays at the Rose

For Residents with dementia the holidays are less about gifts and more about the time spent with family and friends. As well as, reinventing old traditions that we all were so found of as children. At The Rose residents were able to take part in helping decorate their home, putting up the Christmas tree, building a gingerbread village, celebrating their own beliefs, have families join in on festivities, having a choir of kids come perform, as well as having a New Year’s party. When a vote was put to the test the majority of the residents said that having a choir of kids come by their home to preform was the most enjoyable part of their holidays besides the time spent with family and friends because the event had reminded them of all the great times they had spent watching their own children perform.
