The Rose of Poway was founded by Dan and Rachel Luken in 2002 to serve seniors with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.  They believe that a residential home is a wonderful alternative to an institutional setting, especially for those seniors with dementia.

Dan Luken graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and began his career in sales and marketing, but never found the fulfillment and job satisfaction that he desired.  In 1999, Dan completed the Long Term Care Studies program at the University of MN and in 2000 became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.  His job as an administrator with a continuing care retirement community management firm brought the Lukens to California.  Upon learning about small Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE), also known as Board and Cares, Dan quickly realized that this was his calling.

Rachel Luken is a Certified Financial Planner and works for Hoyle Cohen Wealth Management Group as their Director of Financial Planning.

Dan and Rachel are proud parents of two young boys who make them laugh every day.
